Fatima Ali

Few women make it into the top ranks of chefs in New York City. It’s even harder for those who are not U.S. citizens, but one young Pakistani woman has broken this barrier. What makes Fatima Ali’s story truly inspiring is that she is the only non-American chef in the top 70 restaurants in New York. Fatima rose to fame when she competed on the Food Network’s TV show, “Chopped.” Her blend of Pakistani spices and Western cuisines won her the top award of $10,000. Fatima is currently working at Café Centro and plans to come back to Pakistan and open subsidized kitchens for the poor.
