Rafiullah Kakar

Rafiullah Kakar, in 2013, became the first man from Baluchistan to become a Rhodes Scholar. The Rhodes Scholarship to study at Oxford University in UK, one of the most prestigious awards in the world, is given to one Pakistani every year since 1951. Coming from a humble background from one of the most hostile and backward areas of Pakistan, Rafiullah’s story is truly amazing. He got a scholarship to study at the Balochistan Residential College and despite facing language barriers (Rafiullah could only understand Pushto at the time) and numerous other difficulties, he worked hard and achieved something that only a few Pakistanis have been able to do.
